Christspiracy … and our upcoming events
Greetings and Happy Spring Equinox!
We would like to encourage you to make a special effort to view the new documentary film, Christspiracy, which will be shown in 600 movie theaters throughout the U.S, and in several other countries very soon.
One screening will be tomorrow evening, March 20, and the second will be March 24, Palm Sunday, in the afternoon. We have viewed it and recommend it most highly.
Quite a few years ago, back in 2009, I put on a World Peace Diet Facilitator training in Cincinnati and one of the attendees was a young man from San Francisco, Kip Andersen. A few weeks later, he emailed me that he had been inspired by the training and would like to make a film on The World Peace Diet.
His first efforts focus on the ecological benefits of vegan living with the hit film Cowspiracy, and the second film, What the Health, covers the health benefits. A third film, Seaspiracy, addresses the devastating impact of the fishing industry, and this fourth and final film explores the spiritual and ethical dimensions of our food system.
It focuses on the provocative question: Is there a spiritual way to kill an animal? What did Jesus think about meat-eating, and is it likely, as I discuss in The World Peace Diet, that the original Christians were ethical vegetarians?
Christspiracy is the culmination of a seven-year film-making adventure taking Kip and his filmmaking partner Kam Waters to Jerusalem, Europe, and India. The film was originally going to be a Netflix Original. However, Netflix preferred to omit certain elements of the film so they parted amicably and crowdfunded—very successfully—in order to keep the film’s integrity.
Each of us can play an important role in making sure that people all over the world have an opportunity to see Christspiracy by going to see it either tomorrow, March 20th, or this Sunday. It will be presented for these two screenings only and theaters will keep it running if ticket sales are strong.
Christspiracy is not another documentary about veganism. The film challenges us to rethink our relationship with faith, ethics and the entirety of creation. You can view theater locations and purchase tickets on the website: https://christspiracy.com/.
That’s it for now! Madeleine and I are just entering Arizona on the final leg of our Food for Freedom Tour, and have upcoming events in the Tucson area, Phoenix, Ajo, San Diego, Orange County, L.A., Fresno, Modesto, and the Sacramento area before returning to our Karuna Food Forest in northern California.
The new book, Food for Freedom, is getting close to being released and we’ll keep you posted. Many thanks for your efforts on behalf of a kinder and more conscious world, and to the many local activists who are assisting us with our tour, during which we have delivered 100 presentations over these past five months.
We look forward to seeing you and continuing to work together to reveal the deep structure of our culture, and the many ways we can bring healing to ourselves, animals, and our world.
