The Power of Practice, Resources, and Upcoming Events
Dr. Will Tuttle
A colleague wrote me recently about his sense of hopelessness because of all the conflicting narratives regarding the current issues and events in our world, and his disturbing loss of friends and increasing disharmony in his life and seemingly in the outer world as well. This reminded me of one of the favorite sayings of the Tibetan lama who was the resident teacher of the Buddhist meditation center where I was living in my 20s in San Francisco:
“Be not hopeful. Be not hopeless. Just practice and do your best.”
During these challenging times, this seems especially important. Compassionate living is a practice – doing our best to be a force for healing and kindness in the world, no matter what other people may be doing or saying.
Thank you, dear friends, for your practice that creates an inspiring example for others. We are each other’s teachers, for better or worse, and what we teach is who and what we are. Everything comes back, eventually, to our ongoing practice of living.
We have some resources to share that can perhaps be helpful in your practice.

Additionally, we are heading to Chico and Oroville here in northern California to deliver presentations promoting compassionate living this Labor Day weekend. And in mid-October, we will travel north and present 13 events in cities in northern California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia in our trusty micro-van. You can see the details in our continually updated schedule of upcoming events. Thanks for joining us if you can and/or spreading the word!
May you thrive in every way, and may we continue to work together to reveal the many ways we can bring healing to ourselves, animals, and our world.
